About Emma…

With more than two decades of experience in the industry, Emma J Steven is a hairdressing force to be reckoned with. An award-winning stylist, salon owner and businesswoman, not to mention mentor to her talented team, Emma truly is one of the best in the business.

Emma was named both Newcomer of the Year and Midlands Hairdresser of the Year at the hair industry Oscars, the British Hairdressing Awards. She made her mark in Sutton coldfield as director of a large salon before striking out on her own, a stunning testimonial to Emma’s skills both as a stylist and trainer herself.

The Emma J Steven salon celebrates ten fantastic years in business in 2017 and continues to grow and evolve to offer the very best salon service in the area. Emma has created a haven where clients feel relaxed and pampered from the moment they step foot through the door; from the warm welcome they receive from the friendly front-of-house team to the complimentary bar offering hot and cold drinks, client comfort is paramount. The secret to Emma’s success is she believes in her holistic approach to the individual client and their experience.

Emma also prides herself on her dedication to her team; she takes a hands-on approach to training stylists, and her proteges are no stranger to awards for their creativity and excellence in cutting and colouring. Several of Emma’s home-grown ‘mini-mes’ have remained at the salon and risen through the ranks to become specialists in their own right.

While skilled in all areas of hairdressing, there are two particular aspects which Emma is renowned for. As an expert colourist, Emma has a fantastic eye for creating beautiful and exciting colours which really complement her clients’ skin tones and styles. She is also a whizz at colour corrections, using her skills to put right any colour mishaps clients may have as a result of previous dye disaste

Wedding hair is another of Emma’s passions, and she has gained a reputation for her innovative, creative and elegant wedding hair styling for brides and bridal parties around the Midlands and beyond. She loves nothing more than transforming a bride for her big day, whether in-salon or at the bride’s home or wedding venue.

Emma’s innate sense of style and boundless creativity mean she is able to interpret her clients’ wishes to give them everything they want and more. She takes the time to listen to, and get to know, her clients, in order to give them the best service at each and every appointment. With Emma, your hair is in the very best hands.

Outside of work there seems to be little rest for Emma, as she focuses on opening her second salon in 2017, however she always makes sure there’s plenty of quality time to spend with her daughter, aged 6.

Emma has been styling my hair for some time now and I have to say that it’s taken me years to find a fantastic stylist who really understands my hair!

I was recommended to have a colour consultation by another freelance stylist a few years ago as it really is a task sourcing someone who has such a great eye for detail when it comes to choosing the best shades & tones most suited to my hair considering my age, skin colouring and high profile events that I regularly attend in Birmingham & London.

Since having my hair styled regularly by Emma, lots of other professionals have said how healthy and edgy my hair looks! This makes me feel great!

Emma is a super entrepreneurial lady, with great business savvy and a really personable approach to her clients and team!

I have built a lovely relationship with my stylist and highly recommend anyone who wants a super new look to go and book a consultation with Emma and she will go through a wide range of colour options with you…

My experience of having my hair cut, coloured, styled & curled at Emma J Steven salon has always made me feel great when I leave the salon.

I have been a client of Emma J Steven for more than 10 years – initially when she worked for Lisa Shepherd in Kidderminster, Worcester – and more recently at her salon in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

Emma has proved over the years that she has an innate ‘instinct’ about colour and l am just one of her many regular clientele who trust her expertise.

I always feel confident that I will come away from her salon with exactly the colour I want and always receive professional, friendly service.

I also believe that Emma is genuinely interested in me and how I want to look, taking time to offer sound advice and most importantly deliver the results I want time and time again.

Having tried others – no one compares with the service I enjoy from Emma and her team.  I have recommended her to many of my friends who all feel exactly the same.
